Our mission at FloodFlash is to create a new way of thinking about insurance. Recently backed by two leading VCs, we’re looking to add a fifth member to our management team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the sales and distribution channels for our pioneering insurtech product.

Role: Commercial Director

Description

The Commercial Director will drive sales & distribution of the FloodFlash product. A combination of proven sales acumen and effective partnership management will enable them to successfully shape our go-to-market strategy to meet our aggressive growth targets.

Responsibilities

In a dynamic start-up environment such as ours, the following responsibilities are subject to change, but we expect the Commercial Director to:

  • Refine & manage FloodFlash’s overall distribution strategy (UK and international)
  • Shape & execute FloodFlash’s sales strategy through direct distribution
  • Establish & manage relationships with local, national & international brokers plus other distribution partners
  • Articulate our new category of insurance to distribution partners
  • Initiate, execute and evaluate relevant marketing initiatives including mail & digital
  • Build and lead a winning sales team

Objectives

  • Meet or exceed goals for revenue growth
  • Meet or exceed goals for policy issuance
  • Establish FloodFlash value proposition to distribution partners
  • Secure FloodFlash’s first direct distribution sales

Requirements

We are looking for somebody with experience relating to some but not necessarily all of the following. As in any start-up the important thing is to be flexible and smart enough to work out the things that you don’t know.

  • Relevant insurance industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience delivering real growth in sales
  • Sales and distribution execution in insurance, finance, software, or any related field
  • Real entrepreneurial drive combined organisational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Proven relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong work ethic and the desire to be part of a lean, fast-paced, start-up culture

With the global risk of catastrophic flooding only expected to rise over the coming decades, FloodFlash is protecting the millions of homes and businesses around the world that can’t get access to affordable flood coverage

We use a combination of science, data and technology to bring a new kind of flood insurance to people that need it most. We provide fairly priced flood cover with no-exclusions that can be settled instantly.

We are one year old and geared up for rapid growth in the next 12-24 months.

The Product

FloodFlash provides 'event-based' flood insurance, where a settlement is contingent only on the occurrence a flood, rather than the sum of damages that it causes.

This structure enables fairly priced flood insurance with no-exclusions that can be settled instantly. Customers receive a pre-agreed settlement as soon as the FloodFlash sensor detects that waters have exceeded a critical depth.

Our proprietary algorithms set tailored prices meaning that for the first time personalised and competitive flood policies can be written for the highest-risk locations around the world.
